Jackson Browne sues John McCain, the Ohio Republican Party and the Republican National Committee

KHIKS files copyright infringement suit in District Court.

On August 14, 2008, KHIKS filed suit on behalf of singer/songwriter Jackson Browne against the GOP candidate for President, Senator John McCain, as well as the Ohio Republican Party and the Republican National Committee.  The suit alleges that the defendants committed copyright infringement by failing to obtain a license for the use of Mr. Browne’s famous song Running On Empty in a campaign television commercial.  The Complaint also alleges claims for the false endorsement of Senator McCain’s candidacy, as well as the unauthorized use of Mr. Browne’s voice in the commercial.  The case is pending in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, Case no. CV-08-5334 RGK (Ex).
